MAN JAILED FOR SELLING CHAMBS AT MORGAN HERITAGE DISCO
Man netted for ‘selling’ chamba at Morgan Heritage show
Police have arrested Emmanuel Hara 31, for being found in possession of 10 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa locally known as chamba during the Jamaican reggae group Morgan Heritage Music Unite concert last Saturday at CIVO Stadium in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe Police Station Spokesperson, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula told the Malawi News Agency (Mana) that Police crew were monitoring and providing security at the of Grammy award Morgan Heritage show when they met the suspect displaying the illicit drug.marijuana“The suspect was actually displaying and moving around the stadium inviting people to buy him the stuff,” said Dandaula and confirmed that the Police immediately arrested and took him to Lilongwe Police Station for further action.Meanwhile the suspected Chamba has been sent to Chitedze Research Station for tests and if it is genuine Indian hemp, the suspects will answer charges of being in possession of Indian hemp contrary to Dangerous Drugs Act.
An estimated crowd of 15,000 turned up at the show where fans were treated to a fully-fledged performance.Morgan Heritage performed in the country in December 2015 where they used backtracks which disappointed fans but this time around they gave fans what they expected.Hara hails from Mzikubola village in the area of Traditional Authority Mzikubola in Mzimba district.
