MASAPOTA ANoma protest against referee Scova
Francisco Scova (C) got the blame from the supporter.There were a couple of concerns over refereeing decisions in Mighty Be Forward Wanderers draw against Dwangwa United on Saturday with the supporters railing at referee Francisco Scova over a disallowed goal and ruling out what the fans say was supposed to be a penalty for the Nomads as Amos Bello was brought down in the box.The teams went for a recess one goal apiece.Luka Milanzi had put the Nomads on the lead before Chifundo Tawiha equalized just after three minutes at the stroke of half time.But some controversial decisions by the ref met the wrath of a rather disappointed Nomads family.In the 19th minute of the second half, a lowly taken header after a scrappy play in the midfield saw Sadick Ibrahim set up Rafiq Namwera whose header past Dwangwa keeper Phillimon Barnet saw a short lived celebrations as Scova ruled it out on offside.As if this was not enough Scova had in the 37th minute of the second half waved play on after Bello was seen to have been brought down in the penalty box by a strenuous looking Gilbert Nkhokwe for the visiting side.In another incident Peter Wadabwa could have put the Nomads in the lead but he was ruled for an offside when he only remained with a flick to make.However supporters in the stands saw the situation their own way claiming the ref should have given the forward the spot kick for the ‘foul’.Heavily armed police officers had to come to the rescue of Scova after the match.After the match the fans flocked the stadium’s official gates where they were heard claiming to be ‘waiting to deal with Scova’.They claimed that the ref has problems with the team and therefore deliberately ruled out the Namwera goal and did not give a ‘clear’ penalty to the side after a series of scrappy play in the second half.This forced police officers to handle the situation and they had to pick Scova in their highly secured vehicle locally known as ‘Chi Mbaula’.While some fans said a poor permanence by their players saw them fail to win against Dwangwa- a side which lacked finished power upfront and missed numerous chances others blamed it on the officiating panel.The Nomads won last week against Silver Strikers 2-1 and had to come from behind while Dwangwa collected their first point as they had lost 1 nil against league leaders Blue Eagles in their opener.The Dwangwa side plays Maxi Bullets today at Kamuzu Stadium.
