SHUT DOWN BRIEFCASE -MALAWI SPORTS COUNCIL SAID
Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) says it will close down all sports associations operating without proper structures., the board chairperson of the council James Chuma has disclosed

He said this is part of the reforms program which government is championing.

“Yes I can assure you that as Malawi National Council of Sports, we have an obligation to monitor operations of every association that access government funding.

“We have over 43 associations that are housed under MNCS but not all of them are operating in the manner we want them to, hence the decision to take them head on,” said Chuma .

Commenting on what action they will take if some associations do not comply with MNCS procedures, the former Mighty Be Forward Wanderers chairman said they will have to take stiffer action on those who do not comply with the procedures.

“We will not go outside the parameters of any association. As a body mandated to monitor operations of each and every association in the country, we will close down any association found in the wrong. We do not want to have associations that are just abusing government funds.

“You saw what happened recently in Lilongwe during a title fight where our boxers were embarrassed by foreign opponents. We don’t want such things to happen again and we will take stiff action on the association related. This exercise will commence on Monday 6 June and we hope to come up with results very soon,” said Chuma.

This is the first time MNCS has taken such a board step as part of the reform programs which government is undertaking across all sectors
MOB JUSTICE COULD SEE THE END OF ATTACKS

It could be a hard revelation to learn, but the killings of people living with albinism in Malawi are planned and deliberate , if what vocal legislator Bon Kalindo says is anything to go by.
The Mulanje South lawmaker claims that the killings are done by President Mutharika’s ‘opposers’ who he says are behind the tortures just to paint a bad image of the current regim
He also says every albino attacker should be ‘dealt’ with in any form of action by people, a remark which subsequently sees him argue mob justice could see the end of the attacks.‘These killings are done by people who want Mutharika’s government to have a dented image. I keep telling them they will fail. They want him (Mutharika) to fall. I tell them he will not’ Kalindo told Zodiak radio’s Tiuzeni Zoona programme on Sunday.
While clinging to the stand that of putting to death albino attackers in the country.
He has since railed at the parliament for what he dubs as ‘being too silent’ to address the issue at hand.
Kalindo recently told Parliament that Malawi needs to kill people behind abductions and killings of people with albinism as a solution to the malpractice.
The legislator added that it is sad for Malawians to watch fellow citizens being killed like “chickens” for rituals.
At the moment, a court in Mzuzu has granted an order banning the traditional doctorswho are widely believed to be one of the reasons for the increase of albino attacks.
Over 18 murder cases have been reported and 14 cases involving kidnapping of albinos are in the records and that three people with albinism are still missing while 28 graveyards of people with albinism have been tampered with in different circumstances, a report government presented in parliament recently revealed.

DPP SAID IS THE POLICY TO CLEARLY SEPARATE GOVTAND PARTY
The responsible Minister, Patricia Kaliati, who is also government spokesperson, reiterated that it is the policy of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led administration to clearly separate government and party functions.

Kaliati said this in response to a Malawi News article alleging that the ruling party use government vehicles for party functions.

"It is erroneous, wrong and unsupported to claim these are old-habits-die-hard for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led Government.

"The story quotes both the Chief Secretary to Government, Mr. George Mkondiwa and Secretary for Natural Resources and, Energy and Mining, Mr. Kester Kaphaizi who all expressed
ignorance on the matter and clearly stated that it is not Government policy to use Government vehicles for party functions.

"Even the DPP Secretary General, Honourable Ecklen Kudontoni and DPP Regional Governor for the North, Honourable Kenneth Sanga, distanced the party from the alleged ferrying of supporters using a government vehicle," explained Kaliati in a statement issued on Saturday.

Kaliati noted that the paper--despite having correct information--went ahead to bend the truth by accusing DPP of abusing state resources and not respecting the separation of party and government functions.

"We believe the fact that both the Government and DPP distanced themselves from the alleged incident should have been enough for the Malawi News to stop painting the party and Government of abuse of tax payers’ money.

"The Public Sector Reforms under implementation will go ahead and will not be derailed by a few misguided individuals as well as a hyped up press bent on discrediting government at each and every turn notwithstanding the good progress the country is making under the DPP led administration," highlighted further Kaliati.

She then said government is still committed to supporting the freedom of the press and advised the media to move away from "cold media tactics and for once move into positive, ethical and progressive reporting practice which we can all align with and for once be proud of".
