Mozambique deports illegal Malawian immigrants
Mozambique’s National Service of Migration (SENAMI) says a total 44 Malawians have been deported from Mozambique for staying there illegally.
SENAMI officials told local press on Tuesday in the capital Maputo.
According to SENAMI these Malawians were arrested at Machipanda border post in the central Manica Province bordering Zimbabwe enroute to South Africa.
The officials added that these 44 foreign nationals were arrested as illegal migrants in the country.
Of these, 37 had no entry visas in their passports and other had forged ones.
“They contravened section 24 (1) of the Immigration Act Chapter 4:02 which criminalises exiting the country at “any place other than a port of exit.” the State alleged.
According to an affidavit written by Eastern region principal immigration officer, Tapuwanashe Chipura, they were deported from Mozambique on the criminal offended
