After getting some love from activists and commentators on his choice of electoral commissioners in as far as the gender equality side is concerned, Mutharika’s DPP led government has gotten some new admiration.One of the country’s education experts has described the extension of learning time in primary schools as a significant step towards the improvement of education standards in the country.Pupils to go more hours of lessons. Government announced the increase in learning hours for Primary Schools last week saying the changes are part of reforms to improve the quality of education in Malawi.Reacting to the change, education expert Bob Chulu said the increase will enable primary school pupils to learn more and have wide knowledge on various subjects. He added that the primary school learners will have an advantage of using the time to pass exams and achieve their dreams.“ The learners will have the privilege of acquiring more skills and knowledge on several subjects,” Chulu said.According to the new timetable, Standards 2, 3 and 4 learners will now be knocking off at 13:50 from 12:30 while senior classes of standard 5 up to 8 are now to be closing doors of their classrooms at 14:30
