MUTHARIK A TELLS PEOPLE OF CHITIPA TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GVT













President Mutharika was speaking during a development rally he conducted in Chitipa district.

Professor Mutharika said people of the Northern Region have been supporting his government including the implementation of development projects such as the construction of Bingu Highway which links Karonga and Chitipa districts.

During the rally, Professor Mutharika said government is promoting irrigation farming in order for the country to be food sufficient.

The President said rain fed agriculture was no longer reliable due to climate change. On this point, President Mutharika urged people to refrain from wanton cutting down of trees.

On the killings of people with albinism, Professor Mutharika urged all Malawians to unite in stopping the barbaric act which has tarnished the good image of the country.

Commenting on drug theft, President Mutharika said government has put in place measures to deal with the malpractice. The President said anyone found stealing drugs will be dismissed and taken to court.

He also assured the nation that government will soon unveil plans to build 10-thousand houses for the police, the army, immigration department and the prison services to deal with housing challenges.

Besides, on their way from Chitipa, the first couple donated four hundred thousand Kwacha to Phwezi Rural Polytechnic in Rumphi.
